Most of the staff were very young, new and therefore inexperienced. Also not overly friendly and predominantly in a bad mood. This was particularly evident at breakfast. Asked for toast and butter 3 times and did not receive it until the end of breakfast.

The grounds of this hotel were absolutely stunning, perfect for a romantic stay. We enjoyed taking walks through the beautiful gardens, surrounded by nature. The breakfast was delicious, with a great selection of options to choose from. The staff were friendly and always willing to help.
We had some issues with the pool area during our stay. The temperature of the water was too cold and the room itself was not warm enough.

Very little however this is a Hotel that struggles to meet a 4 star rating but places requirements on their guests that the 5 star Hotels we stay in would never dream of requesting.
The staff were over the top for a Hotel of this classification. Services may well have been Ok but coat and tie for Dinner. Then the real push to keep us out of the way no Denim in Public areas after 6PM. You have very little choice other than go out and drive to the nearest Pub to have a meal. Breakfast was included and they did at least allow us in to the restaurant at this time even though I only had Jeans to wear. While the Hot dishes are presented for your selection in the normal Bistro manner you must wait for one of the staff to serve it and they are very careful to ensure you don't spill any on the way back to your table for what the staff served were the smallest hot Breakfast during our 5 weeks in the UK. Our 3 Day stay at this Hotel was for us unpleasant to say the least and it is a pity given we enjoyed so many of the other Hotels during our stay in the UK.

During my Christmas stay, I had a lovely time at this hotel. The decorations were beautiful and it really put me in the festive spirit. The staff were very friendly and welcoming, making me feel at home. The location was also great, with stunning views of the countryside and easy access to nearby attractions. I particularly enjoyed the delicious Christmas dinner and the cozy fireplace in the lounge area.
There were a few things that could be improved. The room I stayed in was a bit outdated and could use some renovations.

The surprise anniversary upgrade and gift were a nice touch. The historic building had clean and comfortable public rooms. The gardens and grounds were stunning for a relaxing stroll.
The long wait for our room was frustrating and the receptionist's tone was patronizing. The mix-up with another guest's belongings was unacceptable.

The staff were exceptionally polite and helpful, making check-out a breeze. The bed was incredibly comfortable and the attention to detail during dining was top-notch. The twelve hour cooked blade of beef was the best dish I've ever had. The grounds were immaculately maintained by a team of five gardeners.
